On the east Kerala is bounded by The majestic Western Ghat mountains with the lush and diverse tropical fauna and flora. The backwaters of Kerala are brackish lakes and lagoons lying parallel to the Arabian Sea. They have a unique ecosystem created by the fresh river water meeting the seawater from Arabian Sea.

Kerala became famous as a spice exporter from 3000 BCE onwards and had trade with Babylonians, Assyrians and Egyptians. The lucrative spice trade attracted Portuguese traders to Kerala and later led to European colonization of India. The Dutch started trade with Zamorin of Kozhikode after Vasco da Gama landed at Kappad beach in Kozhikode in 1498

The queen of the Arabian sea, the city of Cochin is the commercial capital of Kerala and the largest urban conglomeration of Kerala. Cochin is a vibrant city that has a mix of history, tradition and progress.
Fort Kochi was under Portuguese, Dutch and British control from the 15th Century till India gained Independence. Remnants of the european colonization are well preserved in Fort Cochin.
Cochin has tropical monsoon climate. The city has two major railway stations, international airport and is well connected by highways.
